The Chinese Pregnancy Calendar (also known as the Chinese Gender Chart or Chinese Birth Chart) is a centuries-old method said to predict the sex of an unborn child based on the mother’s lunar age at conception and the lunar month of conception. According to legend, the original chart was buried in a tomb near Beijing over 700 years ago and is now kept in the Institute of Science in Beijing.
The chart uses the Chinese lunar calendar, which differs from the Western Gregorian calendar. Converting a Gregorian date to its lunar equivalent and adjusting the mother’s age to “lunar age” (typically +1 year) are required for accurate use. Our calculator handles these conversions automatically.
